The Devil's Ditch Rendezvous club (known as DDR) was founded in 1980 with 12 chartered members.
Since 1981 the club has been centralized in Reno County with several members from surrounding localities.
The club is limited to 50 members and includes members in Colorado and Nebraska.
The first DDR rendezvous was held on May 1981 at Hyson's farm, with a rendezvous every year .
In 1992 the club has moved it's location to Trey Owsten's grounds south of Hutchinson, Kansas onto a 40 acre site.
The site includes a shooting range, a tomahawk throwing target and archery targets.
A unique feature of the grounds is a round log cabin that was constructed between the years
of 1995 through 1999 and includes sleeping bunks and a stove for heat during winter meetings.
The club currently hosts a primitive rendezvous in May, and a rendezvous in October when the public is invited.
The club name "Devil's Ditch Renegades" is derived from a tributary of the Arkansas river stretching south from
Hutchinson, Kansas through Haven, Kansas. History states this ditch was a prominent land mark where many
Cavalry horses would drown when trying to cross it, hence the name.
